Have a Huawei inverter and want to add a battery? This is a real case in Sant Aniol de Finestres (Girona): a home with a 5 kWp solar installation and a Huawei SUN2000 hybrid inverter, to which we added a 7 kWh Huawei LUNA2000 battery (6.9 kWh usable). The battery connects directly to the existing inverter, with no change to the panels or the inverter: it stores the midday solar surplus and feeds it back to the home in the evening and at night. This is not a backup system; it runs in self-consumption mode to cut the energy bought from the grid as far as possible. We installed the LUNA2000-S1 control module and the LUNA2000-7-S1 battery module, ran the DC and earth wiring to the inverter, and configured and commissioned the system in the FusionSolar app. On one of its first days in operation, 99% of the home's consumption was covered by solar energy, either directly or from the battery. The system can be expanded to 3 modules (about 21 kWh) without touching what is already there.

Can I add a Huawei battery to my Huawei inverter?

If your inverter is a hybrid model from the Huawei SUN2000 range, the LUNA2000 battery connects to it directly, with no change to the panels or the inverter. Before quoting we check the exact model and firmware to confirm compatibility.
How much Huawei LUNA2000 battery capacity can I install?

Each LUNA2000-7-S1 module has 6.9 kWh usable, and one control module takes up to 3, about 21 kWh. You can start with a single module and expand later. We look at your consumption to propose the capacity you will actually use.
Will I have power during a blackout with this battery?

Not with this setup: the battery runs in self-consumption mode to save money. If you want the home to keep running when the grid goes down, a compatible Huawei backup unit has to be added. We explain the options in the quote.
How is the battery monitored?

From the Huawei FusionSolar app, the same one used for the inverter: you see solar production, battery state of charge and home consumption in real time.
